Featuring a wild premise and heavy violence, From Dusk till Dawn is a crazy journey that should be applauded for its sheer audacity.
Seth and Richie Gecko (George Clooney & Quentin Tarantino) are criminals on the run who take Jacob (Harvey Keitel), Kate (Juliette Lewis) and Scott (Ernest Liu) hostage. When they arrive in Mexico, they stop at a bar frequented by vampires.
Written by Tarantino, the film starts like most of his pieces, but you soon find yourself in a horror where the characters are fighting for their survival. It’s a brilliant twist that’s not only unique but breathes in new life midway through.
The special effects make-up for the vampires is done well and holds up to the ‘90s practical effects standards – which are often better than today’s CGI.
Final say: Get ready for a wild ride. ★★★★☆
