Adapted from a Stephen King novel, The Green Mile is easily one of the best films of all-time with its compelling story and beautiful performance from Michael Clarke Duncan.
Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks) is the supervisor of Cold Mountain Penitentiary’s death row, which is nicknamed “The Green Mile” for its floor. When inmate John Coffey (Duncan) is brought in, Paul notices some supernatural occurrences. Meanwhile, Correctional Officer Percy Wetmore (Doug Hutchinson) causes trouble with the inmates.
The film shows the humanity that the corrections officers (except Percy) have toward their inmates in their final days. And while these men did terrible things, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re terrible people.
Duncan is larger than life here and brings intense emotional that you’ll meet with extreme empathy.
Final say: You’ll enjoy this mile so much, you won’t realize how long it is. ★★★★★
