Sleepless in Seattle is so magical that even though the grand storyline could only happen in the movies, you’ll be wishing for something just as spectacular.
Annie (Meg Ryan) is newly engaged to Walter (Bill Pullman) when one night she’s listening to a radio show where Jonah (Ross Mallinger) calls in to ask for a new wife for his recently widowed father Sam (Tom Hanks).
Ryan and Hanks are endearingly charismatic leads that you find yourself rooting for even though they spend most of the film separated. Their story inspires true love that can’t be explained.
With its wild and smartly written premise, great performances, romantic soundtrack and many references to the classic film An Affair to Remember, this is a film that will stand the test of time.
Final say: One of the greatest rom-coms of all-time. ★★★★★
