You may feel like the plot of repeating a day over and over has been done too many times, but Boss Level keeps it fresh with great action, comedy and deepening emotions.
Roy (Frank Grillo) is stuck in a time loop where he is constantly targeted by assassins and never makes it past 12:47 p.m. Over 100 times in, Roy begins to learn new elements of this day dealing with his ex-wife Jemma (Naomi Watts) and son Joe (Rio Grillo).
The concept doesn’t get old here because of the increasing amounts of violence and continued furthering of the story. While it’s all familiar, you’re constantly seeing new elements, which set it apart from other similar stories.
Grillo is fantastic in the lead role and works beautifully with his real-life son Rio as his screen son.
Final say: Leveled up. ★★★★☆
