As the final chapter in the live-action Night at the Museum series, Secret of the Tomb’s adventure and comedy brings the series to a fulfilling end.
When the magical tablet of Ahkmenrah (Rami Malek) begins to lose its powers, Larry Daley (Ben Stiller), his son Nicky (Skyler Gisondo) and several of the New York exhibits travel to London to reunite the tablet with Merenkahre (Ben Kingsley).
With many of the actors and characters returning from the previous films, it’s hard not to have a good time. The Larry-lookalike Neanderthal Laaa (also Stiller) isn’t necessary but provides some humor. And though Gisondo is great, it’s odd to have Nicky re-casted (from Jake Cherry) after two films.
Some of the CGI makes you lose the magic, but the magic of the storyline makes up for it.
Final say: Ending when it should. ★★★☆☆
