Nancy Stokes (Thompson) hires sex worker Leo Grande (McCormack) to fulfill desires that she never accomplished with her late husband. Upon meeting Leo, Nancy is hesitant, but he fosters a genuine connection to make her feel more comfortable.

The film is dialogue heavy between Nancy and Leo, so their characters must be dynamic. Thompson gloriously takes on Nancy in such a relatable way. You understand her nerves and ambition. Meanwhile, McCormack is a breakout as the wonderfully charming Leo. He makes you feel safe.

Maintaining the intimacy through the set and lack of outside interactions, this character-driven piece is perfectly executed.
