With Inception, writer-director Christopher Nolan makes a masterpiece with a (literally) layered story and visuals that are unparalleled.
Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is hired by Mr. Saito (Ken Watanabe) to perform an inception on his business rival Robert Fischer (Cillian Murphy) – where Dom and his team would infiltrate Robert’s dreams to plant an idea to dissolve his recently deceased father’s (Pete Postlethwaite) company.
At every moment, there is so much happening in the story and at different rates of time. You need to pay close attention to the story, but it’s worth it. There’s intense action, but there’s also heartbreak and trauma fueled by Dom and his late wife Mal (Marion Cotillard).
While Nolan uses many practical effects, CGI effects are used as well. However, they’re done brilliantly, especially when making Paris come to life.
Final say: Brain power required. ★★★★★
