Beautifully shot with electric performances, The Wings of the Dove is a romance that you won’t want to miss.

Kate Croy (Helena Bonham Carter) has been taken in by her wealthy aunt (Charlotte Rampling) to be introduced properly into society. Though her aunt disapproves, Kate is in love with journalist Merton Densher (Linus Roache), whom Kate introduces to her sick friend Milly (Alison Elliott) in hopes that he can inherit some of her fortune.

There are so many levels to this film that make the plot mesmerizing. From the love triangle between Kate, Merton and Milly to Kate’s deception of her ill-fated friend, there’s ruthlessness that’s introduced with grace and sophistication.

Bonham Carter perfectly portrays the lovesick yet strong lead who struggles between romance and financial status.

Final say: A remarkable journey through many emotions. ★★★★☆
