Featuring an incredible cast and keeping you on your toes as a slow burn thriller, The Little Things has the potential to be an incredible story but falls short of compelling.

When Sherriff Joe Deacon (Denzel Washington) notices similarities between a recent murder and a previous serial murder case, he decides to join Detective Jimmy Baxter (Rami Malek) in investigating. Their strongest lead is mysterious repair store worker Albert Sparma (Jared Leto).

Despite the talents of Washington and Malek, Leto is the one that stands out the most with his scene-stealing creepiness.

The film comes to an unsatisfying ending that might work if this was a true story but lacks conviction as a fictional piece. The slow burn fizzles out right when the spark is greatest.

Final say: The little things don’t add up to a solid big thing. ★★☆☆☆
