While the plot of Turbo is far-fetched, the titular character has enough power to make you cheer him on through the final laps.

Turbo (Ryan Reynolds) is a garden snail with dreams of winning the Indianapolis 500. When he accidently gains powers that give him superspeed, he and his brother Chet (Paul Giamatti) are taken in by Tito (Michael Peña) who believes Turbo could be his chance to make it big.

In the words of Michelle Visage, this plot is so stupid but that’s what makes it fun. Turbo is endearing and you get to see the brotherly dynamic between him and Chet mirrored in Tito and Angelo (Luis Guzmán).

The voice acting is great throughout, but it’s Samuel L. Jackson who brings comedic gold with his usual intensity attached to a snail named Whiplash.

Final say: Crazy, but entertaining. ★★★☆☆
