Though the script from Tom Hanks and Nia Vardalos is unsurprising and dangerously corny at times, it’s hard to resist the combination of Hanks and Julia Roberts alongside a fantastic supporting cast.

When Larry Crowne (Hanks) decides to go back to school and pursue the college degree he never got, he meets troubled speech Professor Mercedes Tainot (Roberts).

The film is an easy watch and will bring many smiles to your face, but it’s nothing we haven’t seen before. Hanks and Roberts don’t reach beyond their usual flair because they don’t have to. You’ll know how the ending will pan out, but it’s enjoyable to get there.

With an all-star supporting cast, a young Rami Malek brings the most comedy as Larry’s classmate who’s less than interested in school.

Final say: Doesn’t earn a crown, but steals your heart. ★★★☆☆
