Sharper constantly reveals its cards early but watching the process the characters go through to con each other will keep you invested in this magnificently acted crime-thriller.

Tom (Justice Smith) falls for Sandra (Briana Middleton) quickly but when he gives her money to help her brother, she disappears on him. Max (Sebastian Stan) reenters his mom Madeline’s (Julianne Moore) life and causes havoc for her new flame Richard (John Lithgow).

The story is presented in vignettes which focus on specific characters but not always in the correct timeline, which makes you put the pieces together like a puzzle. Unfortunately, as the events start to unfold in each, you can tell what’s going to happen.

Moore, Stan, Smith and Middleton have complex characters that portray themselves in a multifaceted way.

Final say: An exciting thriller to keep you on edge. ★★★★☆
