With a sublime performance from Meryl Streep, Florence Foster Jenkins is a reminder to find what sparks joy in life and to stick with it no matter what others think.
Florence Foster Jenkins (Streep) is a New York City socialite with a love for music who decides to resume singing lessons and hires Cosmé McMoon (Simon Helberg) as her pianist. Though Cosmé and her husband St. Clair (Hugh Grant) understand her shortcomings, they help fuel her passion.
Streep brings incredible charm to the real-life figure, and you can’t help but cheer her on. Bringing her story to life not only gives her recognition but reminds us to embrace the things we dare not do for fear of criticism.
The script is full of comedic moments, but centers around the heart of the story: love and passion.
Final say: A triumph. ★★★★★
