Based on the Anne Rice novel of the same name, Interview with the Vampire dares to go further into the abuse, gore and sexuality than its earlier film counterpart did. And, this iteration dives into racism as well.

In the early 20th century New Orleans, Louis (Jacob Anderson) is a well to-do black man who’s seduced by Lestat (Sam Reid). Lestat turns Louis into a vampire, and they keep their New Orleans roots, eventually bringing in Claudia (Bailey Bass).

While the film has strong gay subtext, the show fully dives in making it clear that Louis and Lestat are lovers who start a family together with Claudia. Allowing their love to show also allows for the intense emotional and mental abuse that Lestat puts on Louis, which makes their relationship more turbulent.

Final say: Fantastic lead up to Part II. ★★★★☆
