Though it has an interesting concept, Infinity Pool tries so hard to be artistic that it comes off pretentious and hard to watch.
While on a trip to find inspiration, writer James Foster (Alexander Skarsgård) and his wife Em (Cleopatra Coleman) meet Gabi (Mia Goth) and Alban (Jalil Lespert). Coming back to their resort one night, James runs over a man. After being arrested, he’s told his death penalty could be executed by a double created to look just like him.
Skarsgård shows his wide range of acting here and disappears into his character fully. However, Goth’s Gabi instantly falls into a cliché of someone you know doesn’t have good intentions.
The film employs different editing and lighting techniques to make everything feel creepy and unstable, but it becomes cumbersome after a while.
Final say: Watching it feels like infinity. ★☆☆☆☆
