A non-sensical adventure, Alice in Wonderland is perhaps one of the oddest films in the Disney canon though it manages to still entertain.
Following the White Rabbit (Bill Thompson), Alice (Kathryn Beaumont) falls down a hole and ends up in Wonderland. Trying to find her way home, she encounters many of Wonderland’s residents leading her to the Queen of Hearts (Verna Felton), who wishes to chop off her head.
It’s arguable that the film is a warning against drugs as Alice eats and drinks items that make her larger and smaller, including mushrooms, which all lead to more interesting parts of her adventure. The film is full of color and fantastic animation, despite its odd story.
Felton’s Queen of Hearts is the most fun and a great addition to the Disney villains.
Final say: You’ll wonder what you’re watching. ★★★☆☆
