With an incredible concept that will have you constantly questioning whether you’d go through the same process, Severance is an intense sci-fi drama that will have you begging for more.
Mark (Adam Scott) works for Lumon Industries, which uses a medical procedure called “severance” to create two versions of the same person with memories of work (innies) and memories of personal life (outies) that shift when coming in and out of the office. Former employee Petey (Yul Vazquez) warns Mark of the dangers.
From the first moments of the pilot episode, there’s an unease that sets in as Helly (Britt Lower) is introduced into the company. Watching the different sides of the innies and outies consistently builds the tension levels.
Scott and Patricia Arquette (as the unsevered boss Harmony Cobel) give deeply layered performances.
Final say: Scary and exciting. ★★★★★
