On his third outing, Charlie Puth finds a perfect mix of lyrics and sounds to create his best album yet.

With cowriting credits on each song and main production credits, Puth was able to make songs that he fully identified with, and it shows. Most of the tracks have a shorter runtime with over half being under the three-minute mark, but they keep you fully engaged and never push past what feels right.

The album is a heartbreak album and lets Puth lean into his insecurities. “Charlie Be Quiet!” is one of the smartest as he moves between a whisper and yelling, which lets his inner monologue come out. Even the album’s one ballad, “When You’re Sad I’m Sad,” doesn’t feel like a traditional ballad with his vocal layering.
