Desperate Housewives may not have made it if it premiered today with some stereotypical storylines but thank goodness its comedy gold came out at the right time in television history.

Mary Alice Young (Brenda Strong) commits suicide in a quaint suburb on Wisteria Lane leaving behind her four best friends: the perfect on the surface Bree (Marcia Cross), the former model having an affair Gabrielle (Eva Longoria), the overly stressed mom Lynette (Felicity Huffman) and the unlucky in love Susan (Teri Hatcher).

Each one of the four main housewives presents a stereotype of women in media, but they continue to crack and show different parts of themselves as the season continues. The women were perfectly casted and are a joy to watch.

Some of the storylines are dated, but it’s a product of its time.

Final say: Desperate for more. ★★★★★
