Fans had to wait over three years for Lizzo’s follow-up to Cuz I Love You and while the wait felt excruciating, it was worth it after listening to Special.

Lizzo’s biggest strength is the positivity of her music. She wants listeners to be in a good mind set about with their mental health and body positivity. Songs like the titular “Special,” might not feel genuine from a number of artists, but Lizzo makes you believe in every word she says with her power and emotion.

Keeping her songs upbeat, Lizzo creates several bops like “About Damn Time” and “2 Be Loved (Am I Ready).” One other track to note is “I Love You Bitch” because she reclaims the word “bitch” and uses it as a term of endearment, which is not often heard musically.
