Mindless entertainment with great action and comedy that’ll keep you laughing, Charlie’s Angels is an iconic female-led thrill leaving you wanting even more.
When tech genius Eric Knox (Sam Rockwell) is kidnapped by Roger Corwin (Tim Curry) for his technology, Charlie Townsend’s (John Forsythe) Angels – Natalie (Cameron Diaz), Dylan (Drew Barrymore) and Alex (Lucy Liu) – are hired to save Knox and return his software.
Diaz, Barrymore and Liu have infectious personalities that make the Angels more than crime fighters. They’re lovable characters that you instantly root for. The actresses are sexualized in a way that undermines the men around them.
Bill Murray’s Bosley unnecessarily pulls away from the actresses, though Rockwell’s Knox has a good arc that makes him fully believable.
The action is corny and obviously fake throughout, but it’s still fun.
Final say: Take me to heaven. ★★★★☆
