With an ending that will leave your mouth gaping open, The Mist is one of the best Stephen King adaptations for the big screen.
David Drayton (Thomas Jane) and his son Billy (Nathan Gamble) go to the grocery store for supplies when a thick mist starts rolling through town. When warned about dangers inside the mist, those in the grocery store are forced to stay in place, but some threaten the safety.
Director-screenwriter Frank Darabont altered the ending a bit from the book to shock audiences and King praised how it’ll terrify audiences. It’s one of the craziest endings in cinematic history and will stay with you long after you finish.
The plot foreshadows what people went through during the COVID-19 pandemic and Marcia Gay Harden’s character is one that everyone has experienced.
Final say: A top-of-the-line horror. ★★★★★
