An intense spy thriller that will keep you guessing and then gasping at the twists, Slow Horses is a fantastic addition to Apple TV+ that isn’t to be missed.

When MI5 agents make terrible mistakes but aren’t fired, they end up at Slough House and become known as “Slow Horses” with their dull tasks. When comedian Hassan Ahmed (Antonio Aakeel) is kidnapped by far-right group Sons of Albion, Slough House agent River Cartwright (Jack Lowden) begins searching for answers.

The series is led by Gary Oldman’s Jackson Lamb and while he has comedic moments, Oldman spends most of the series yelling with little depth to his character. However, other cast members create interesting characters that will hook you.

Most of the season takes place in a 24-hour period, so the tension feels more urgent.

Final say: Anything but slow. ★★★★☆
