Though the third season of Riverdale sets itself up as a fantastic horror early on, the storyline was dragged out for the entire season making a mishap of storylines and false plot twists.
As Riverdale begin playing Gryphons & Gargoyles, the mysterious Gargoyle King begins terrorizing the town. Archie (KJ Apa) takes up boxing, Betty (Lili Reinhart) tries to save her mom (Mädchen Amick) from a cult and Veronica (Camila Mendes) begins running a speakeasy. Meanwhile, Jughead’s (Cole Sprouse) mom (Gina Gershon) comes back to town.
Archie and Veronica become the two worst characters of the season. While Veronica has redeeming intellectual qualities, her emotional side with her father (Mark Consuelos) weighs down the season. Archie, on the other hand, has almost nothing redeeming him as he plays the martyr.
Final say: Scary at the start, then scary long. ★★★☆☆
