Watching the first season of Friends just reminds you of the greatness to come. Are there jokes that haven’t aged well? Of course. But is it a brilliant product of its time? Definitely.

After leaving her fiancé Barry (Mitchell Whitfield), Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) moves in with her old friend Monica (Courteney Cox). Monica’s brother Ross (David Schwimmer) falls for her, while his ex-wife Carol (Jane Sibbett) is pregnant with their child.

Though Ross and Rachel are the main focus, the writers do well in balancing the fantastic ensemble cast. Each actor is perfectly cast in their role, and you can tell the genuine fun they’re having together.

The “Will they? Won’t they?” storyline for Ross and Rachel can get tiresome with Ross’ pining, but it’s a wonderful introduction to an iconic TV couple.

Final say: They’ll be there for you. ★★★★☆
