Irish humor isn’t always funny, and this movie brings out the best of that. Sometimes you’ll be cracking up and other times you’ll be wondering what the hell you’re watching.
Pádraic Súllieabháin (Colin Farrell) calls upon his friend Colm Doherty (Brendan Gleeson) to get a pint of beer at their local pub. When Colm won’t answer his door, others suggest they’re in a row, but Colm confirms he just doesn’t like Pádraic anymore. Despite threats from Colm, Pádraic is determined to mend their friendship.
While the main cast of Farrell, Gleeson, Kerry Condon and Barry Keoghan are fantastic in their varied roles, it’s Farrell who stands out on top. He masters the slightly dim, slightly socially unaware Pádraic in a way that’ll make you cheer him on even when you know he should stop.
Final say: A fecking wild time. ★★★★★
