Game nights with kidnapping themes have become popular among the fiercest competitors, but they’re rarely this real.

When Brooks Davis (Kyle Chandler) comes to town to visit his brother Max (Jason Bateman), he throws a game night for Max’s group of friends. When they realize that the kidnap game actually results in Brooks being kidnapped, they compete to see who can get him back first.

Bateman and Rachel McAdams are quite the duo in this film. They play off each other well and never seem like they’re trying to force laughs.

This is a rare comedy where it is just as thrilling as it is funny. The ensemble cast each has something about their role that makes them interesting and will make you laugh. If anyone were missing, the dynamic wouldn’t be right.

Final say: Fun night for all involved. ★★★★☆
