In an original story, the Addams Family makes it to the Broadway stage for the first time.
When Wednesday Addams (Krysta Rodriguez) falls for Lucas Beineke (Wesley Taylor), she decides to invite him and his family to her home for dinner. The straight-laced family is not prepared for what Gomez (Nathan Lane), Morticia (Bebe Neuwirth) and the rest of the gang have in store for them.
The first act of this show is a ton of fun. The music written by Andrew Lippa includes some new Broadway classics like the opener “When You’re an Addams” and Wednesday’s “Pulled” performed perfectly hilarious by Rodriguez. But, the second act seems to drag on. Instead of enjoying it, you’ll just wonder when it will be over.
However, Lane, Neuwirth and Jackie Hoffman give dynamic performances.
Final say: Kooky, but not entertaining enough. ★★☆☆☆
