If you became paralyzed and knew you would never recover, would you want to live? That’s the question this novel asks.
Louisa “Lou” Clark’s sheltered life expands after getting a job as a caretaker for a young quadriplegic man, Will Traynor. She learns that Will has set a date to die by assisted suicide and that his mother hopes Lou will convince him to continue living.
There are moral and ethical dilemmas brought up in the book that are handled carefully by showing multiple points of view on the issues. Even if you go into the story with one point of view, author Jojo Moyes will have you questioning yourself by the end.
It’s certainly a rollercoaster of emotions, but will have you entranced by the leads. Their romance is adorable.
Final say: Have a box of tissues on hand. ★★★★★
