With the original cartoon already being a classic, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that The Grinch became a live-action film as well. What I love so much about this film is the amount of backstory given to The Grinch’s life.
As the narrator states, “Every Who who lived down in Whoville liked Christmas a lot, but the Grinch, who lived just north of Whoville did not.” The Whos ostracize the Grinch, but little Cindy Lou Who thinks that everyone should be involved in the festivities and gets the Grinch invited.
Jim Carrey is brilliant as the Grinch and carries the movie. He’ll make you laugh out loud.
The production design of the film is incredible as well. You’ll find yourself lost in the world of Dr. Seuss.
Final say: A Christmas classic that is surely an annual tradition. ★★★★☆
